Beachbody Ultimate Reset :: Halfway There

I’m only 11 days into the Beachbody Ultimate Reset and what can I say, I already have a laundry list of results and benefits! Are there some negatives to report as well? Sure, but we’ll get to those…

At just 11 days into the Reset, I’ve noticed:
1. Better sleep
2. Increased energy
3. Regular bowel movements
4. A better understanding of food and how to use it to nourish my body
5. Disappearance of cravings for unhealthy foods
6. An appreciation for hydration
7. Weight/fat loss even without working out

I’m only halfway through the program and already learned SO much about myself and my relationship with food! As a medical professional, I look for sound evidence and documentation to back things up too. And although Beachbody has little research available about the Ultimate Reset, it is esentially an alkaline based diet which is proven to be extremely powerful and beneficial for many reasons, including preventing cancer.

So what are the “negatives”?
1. With hydration comes more trips to the bathroom
2. No working out

Bottom line, this has been a life changing experience for me already!  I will definitely continue drinking lots of water, making some of the dishes, and overall maintaining an alkaline diet with plenty of fruits and veggies.

Sound interesting? Click the link for more information about the program.

An exclusive interview with Shaun T?!?!

Tonight I had a dream that Shaun T saw my Asylum 2 video and called me to give me an exclusive interview.

In the interview I of course asked about Asylum Vol. 2. How long until its release and its title. To which he replied there was already a Teambeachbody skew # and that it was called Total Body Performance. I started asking something about Tai Cheng and then my alarm went off. Grrrr!

What do you think Asylum Vol. 2 will be? And if you had an exclusive interview with Shaun T, what questions would you have asked him? Drop me a comment below and let me know.

Asylum Vol.2 is a NIGHTMARE!!!

I’ve seen a couple of interviews with Shaun T lately, and there are a few important things I gathered pertaining to Asylum Vol. 2:

First, Someone asked him how he trained his biceps and how often he lifted weights and his answer was surprising. Apparently Shaun T’s body is almost exclusively the product of Insanity workouts! He said that on average he might lift weights maybe once a month!

So how does that pertain to Asylum Vol. 2? Well, as I’ve mentioned it has been postulated that Vol. 2 was going to be strength focused, using more weights and resistance bands. The teaser picture Carl tweeted from a filming session even had everyone slinging some iron in it!
So, although I agree, an Insanity weight training program would compliment the two previous installments perfectly, would Shaun T make a program he didn’t use himself regularly? Also, let’s not forget that Beachbody has already announced Body Beast, their “I lift things up and put them down” mega body building program for release this summer. Would they really put out two strength programs back to back?

Second, when asked if he has created anything harder than the current Insanity workouts Shaun T replied, “Oh no, asylum volume 2 is a NIGHTMARE”!

On that note, when asked what he drinks Shaun T said, ” I’m a big stickler for not drinking your Calories… For me when it comes to working out and hydrating myself, I REALLY drink water. That’s kinda like my main thing. But for The Asylum Volume 2, believe it or not, I got introduced to E&E… I’m telling you right now, you think Shaun T was crazy in Asylum Volume 1? That E&E took me over the roof! I think something happened to me! Soooo…”

Now that I believe! No matter what Asylum Vol. 2 has in store for us, there is one thing you can be certain of, that Shaun T is going to work you like never before! I am so excited for this!

Ultimate Reset :: The Hardest Challenge Yet?

20120409-220547.jpg

The Beachbody Ultimate Reset is going to be released on Thursday April 12, 2012.

I am SO pumped for this! The test groups have seen absolutely phenomenal results! Even more so, I hope to find a couple of new “go-to” recipes. However, it is NOT going to be easy! In fact this 21 day “cleanse” may just be the hardest challenge yet…

That’s why I’m asking you to join me in this 21 day challenge, so we can come together and support each other through it! The challenge will begin on May 2nd. Email me at yourfreefitnesscoachif@gmail.com if you want in on the accountability group.

In the mean time, head to the official site UltimateReset.com for more info.

This is a great video with Dr. Wheeler explaining the science behind the Ultimate Reset:

And here’s Carl & Isabelle Daikeler speaking about the Ultimate Reset:

Insanity Asylum Vol.2 Details

We know it’s in the works, but just what is it going to entail?

Well, As for contributors, this is from the comments on Steve Edwards blog:

“Brad B said…

Would be really curious to hear if Marcus Elliott/P3 will have input in the Asylum series similar to what he had with p90x 2. I loved Asylum V1, and I love X2, and P3 seems like a match made in heaven with the sports training modality of Asylum.

Steve Edwards said…

Funny in that I was just writing on this very thing. There is some. Shaun visited P3 and worked with Marcus for a while and there is definitely some P3-inspired movemets in Vol2. But it won’t be as systematic as X2 as Asylum is a shorter program (30 days) so we have to be wary of overtraining the central nervous system. Therefore you won’t see any big complexs like X2 has. Will be hard–maybe it will feel harder–but it won’t cause the massive system adjustments that X2 will make.”

This seems very fitting! The thing is that P90X2 is SO sports focused, so why wouldn’t Shaun T work with the folks at P3 as well?

As for new moves I’ve created a video demonstrating three of them, enjoy:

Till next time,

Insanity :: The Asylum Vol. 2 ?!?!

20120328-185227.jpg

HOLY BALLS Insanity :: The Asylum Vol. 2 is already in the works!!!

If you’ve been with me since The Asylum Vol. 1 was first announced, you know that I am the number one source for upcoming information, an I get it before anyone else!

You see, I am borderline obsessive when it comes to Shaun T & Insanity. Just take a look at my YouTube channel and be assured you need to look NO FURTHER!

The only information released so far is confirmation that Volume 2 is in the works and holding casting calls.
Also, to no surprise, it is being said that Volume 2 is going to be more difficult than the previous volume. So it is highly recommended you have gone through and “mastered” Volume 1 before attempting Volume 2, because you will need to Dig Even Deeper, AGAIN!!!

Insanity Too Easy? Take It to the Next Level…

As I began a third round of Insanity (following the two previous rounds and one round of Asylum) I noticed my fit test results were nearing my maximum after just the first two weeks. How am I going to challenge myself and continue to get the amazing results Insanity has neverfailed to deliver before?

I thought about wrist weights, ankle weights, etc. However, the best option seemed to be a weight vest. But which one? There are SO many on the market, and each one has it’s own list of pros and cons.

At first I was looking for a 40-80 pound adjustable weight vest. After reading many reviews, I decided that anything that could be purchased at my local sporting goods store was going to be crap and fall apart in no time. So, if I wanted a quality vest that would last, I was going to have to order one online. But there were still so many options. I decided I needed to do more research…

All of the reviews and videos I looked at for weight vests were people using them to get stronger in their push ups, pull ups, etc. I didn’t see many people running, jumping, or doing plyometrics in them. So the search for the perfect vest to accompany my Insanity workout continued until I found Hyper Wear’s Hyper Vest Pro.

Formal Apologies…

Greetings Insaniac Fans:

I would like to formally apologize for my lack of presence on this website over the past few months. I have been super busy focusing on a promotion in my career. Long story short, I got a promotion, but it has taken a few months to settle into it. During this time, I had to choose on one main venue to focus my efforts on and that was my YouTube Channel at: http://www.youtube.com/user/InsanityAsylum So if you haven’t already, check it out. And be sure to rate, comment, and subscribe while you’re there.

However, the good news (aside from the promotion) is that I now have even more time to dedicate to my own health and fitness as well as my passion to help others through my Beachbody Coaching business.

So without further ado, let the catch up posts begin…

P90X2 Schedule

Just for clarification, and to answer many questions, here is what the P90X2 schedule looks like.

First X2, much like the original, contains 3 distinct phases:

Phase 1 – Foundation, 3-5 weeks
Phase 2 – Strength, 3-6 weeks
Phase 3 – Performance, 3-4 weeks
Recovery Week

Phase 1 is basically core and balance to build a solid foundation. You’ll be building on this for the next two phases. I know X2 Core and X2 Balance & Power is included in phase 1. You’ll be helping your balance for that feared 4 ball pushup later.

Phase 2 will focus on strength and will incorporate the Plyocide and Chest, Back, & Balance workouts.

Phase 3 will focus on increasing your performance. This is when P.A.P. (Post Activation Potentiation) comes into play – PAP Upper, and PAP Lower. It basically consists of doing a weighted exercise immediately followed by an explosive exercise.

Here is the duration of each DVD

X2 CORE 56:54
PLYOCIDE 56:48
RECOVERY + MOBILITY 58:20
X2 TOTAL BODY 63:45
X2 YOGA 68:07
X2 BALANCE + POWER 63:21
CHEST + BACK + BALANCP90X2 60:15
X2 SHOULDERS + ARMS 53:04
BASE + BACK 56:26
P.A.P. LOWER 62:56
P.A.P. UPPER 53:06
V SCULPT 54:18
X2 CHEST + SHOULDERS + TRIS 49:28
X2 AB RIPPER 17:27

As you can see, you can expect to commit to an hour or more everyday to complete P90X2.
